Sol Guyana Participates in GTI Open Day

Sol Guyana/Shell Lubricants participated in the Government Technical Institute’s Open Day, entitled ‘Taste of the Trades – Refuelling the Future’. The goal was to offer guidance and encouragement to students as they explored the various career paths on display at the Open Day. Students were enthusiastic to learn about job opportunities within the petroleum industry and the development paths offered by Sol. The team also encouraged the students of the Motor Vehicle Engine System Programme to take advantage of the partnership between Sol and GTI including the 6-week internship and reward given to the best graduating students for levels 1 and 2.

Shell Lubricants sponsors the GTI

Sol Guyana Inc. has joined forces with the Government Technical Institute (GTI) in Georgetown, Guyana to secure the future for students of the Motor Vehicle Engine Systems Program with a three-year sponsorship pledge. Under the arrangement, Sol Guyana Inc. the Country’s Shell Lubricants Macro Distributor, will provide two students selected from the program with annual industrial job attachments, and also present an annual prize to the highest performing student in the program. Other support will include lubricants technical training delivered in association with Shell Lubricants; personal protective equipment for staff and students enrolled in the program and annual refurbishing of the Motor Vehicle Engine Systems Classroom.

Lubricants Team Attends Linden Trade Fair

The Linden Trade and Investment Fair, an annual event held as part of the Linden Town Week, gives both small and large-scale businesses an opportunity to display their products and services. Over the three-day event, the Shell Lubricants team in Guyana was able to engage with students and other interested persons involved in mining, manufacturing, logging and farming.
The team shared information on product specifications, usage and benefits with those present at the fair. Sol Guyana was commended by the Senior Vice President of the Linden Chambers of Commerce, Lyndon Younge for its commitment to Guyana’s development, and especially the mining town of Linden. There was also much fanfare at the Shell Lubricants booth thanks to the Shell Helix Ultra ‘Spot the Bottle’ campaign, which was named as one of the highlights of the team’s presentation.

Sol Guyana host Stakeholders

In April, Sol Guyana reintroduced itself to its customers and the general public as a new, energized team with a renewed vision, ready to fuel tremendous growth in the local petroleum industry.
The annual Stakeholders’ Appreciation event allowed the Sol Guyana staff to build rapport with customers in a more informal, celebratory setting. Representatives from The Sol Group of companies, Government of Guyana. Public and Private Sectors were all in attendance. The evening consisted of inspiring speeches, light entertainment, and of course, much laughter. At the end of the event, each attendee received a token of appreciation and many vowed to continually support the Sol brand.

Sol Gas visits Linden, Guyana

The initiative to have a Sol Gas cylinder in every household in Guyana took the local Sol team to the mining town of Linden for two days. Residents were excited and welcoming as they had the opportunity to purchase a cylinder filled with Sol Gas and fittings for a reduced price. The Sol Gas truck was well surrounded by patrons who wanted to make sure they got to make at least one purchase. This activity gave Linden residents the chance to now own a gas cylinder and become a Sol customer. The promotion was considered a huge success, as many were inquiring of return dates and retail outlets.

Fleet Week in Guyana

Road transport is an integral aspect of Sol’s overall business. During Fleet Week, The Sol Group recognises the sterling contribution of the ‘Road Transport’ team to the business activities of the company. In Guyana, this week was celebrated during the period of February 11-17, 2018 and included activities such as a church service, a drive along and a cricket match.
This year, Sol Guyana Inc. is pleased to have selected Mr. Dennis Nelson as the top Road Trailer Wagon Driver. Mr. Nelson possesses over 37 years’ experience as a heavy-duty vehicle driver and joined the company in 2007. Throughout his career, he has proven to be very committed, knowledgeable, and efficient in all aspects of

Sol Guyana participates in Cancer Awareness Walk

The Sol Guyana team participated in the breast cancer awareness 5K/10K Walk Run on Saturday October 21st, to show their support for Guyanese living with the illness, as well as breast cancer survivors.
The walk, which was a theme of “Together we can make a difference”, was the featured event under the ‘Pinktober’ initiative, which is aimed at increasing breast cancer awareness and encouraging greater action to be taken in the fight against the chronic disease.
The inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness 5K/10K walk and run, saw a turnout of over two thousand participants.

Win Christmas Cash and Groceries with Sol Guyana

Sol Guyana successfully launched their “Win Christmas Cash & Groceries” promotion on Monday 14th November and concluded the campaign with a grand prize drawn on 20th January 2017.

This promotion gave customers the opportunity to win many great prizes such as cash awards, grocery shopping sprees and Christmas gifts draws for household appliances. Customer even had the opportunity to enter the Cash Machine and pull for up to GUY $100,000.

The Sol Guyana team is very excited about this promotion and it was very well-received with customers enthusiastic about the chance to win an assortment of different prizes.
