Jonathan Brewin, General Manager of Sol Petroleum Bermuda Ltd, Director of Age Concern Bermuda and Chairman of the organizations Audit & Risk Committee took some risks of his own on February 22 when he and his son Somers commenced their climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Donations for the climb were raised to support Age Concern, Bermuda’s primary non-profit advocacy group for senior citizens.
Prior to his climb, Jonathan, who has been following those who have climbed the infamous mountain relayed the following, “The challenge will be one of the hardest physical and mental challenges I shall experience in my lifetime. I really want Age Concern to benefit because the success of how we deal with the ageing of our population is also one of the greatest challenges of our time.”
The climb that Jonathan undertook was no small feat, and several months of preparation were needed. Despite the risks however, the Brewin father/son duo were committed to use their climb to bring awareness to the opportunity that exists to proactively respond to the ageing realities of our time. They were able to surpass their Go Fund Me campaign goal of a £5,000 and raised £7,270.
Congratulations to Jonathan and Somers for achieving this amazing goal for such an worthy cause, and for sporting their Sol/Parkland water bottles at the summit!
