On Thursday, January 31, 2019, there was great excitement and anticipation as students, teachers and school coordinators prepared to put on a spectacular display of Bahamian culture – the 31st Annual Sol Junior Junkanoo Parade!
As part of its commitment to the holistic development of the youth of The Bahamas, Sol Petroleum Bahamas has proudly sponsored the Sol Junior Junkanoo Parade for the past 31 years. To assist with our sponsorship of the parade, we once again launched our ‘Pennies at the Pump’ initiative, which is a collaborative effort between Sol, its Dealers and Distributors. The brainchild of Regional Manager, Keith Glinton, this initiative has positioned Sol to contribute thousands of dollars to the Junior Junkanoo Parade annually.
This year, students from twenty-one (21) schools in New Providence and the Family Islands competed in categories such as; best costume, best choreography, best dance for top honors in the preschool, primary, junior and senior school divisions. After several venue changes, this year the parade returned to Downtown – Bay Street, and the response was overwhelming! The combination of good weather, an excellent turnout, great music, beautiful costumes and choreography resulted in a very successful parade.
