The Sol Blazers Win Another Year in 2017!
The Sol Blazers have done it once again! They recently won the National Men’s Basketball Division One Championship in Grand Cayman on June 11, 2017. This brings their winning streak to five (5) Men’s league Championships in recent years -2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. The season, which started in February, saw the team winning all but two games. Three players have now gone to represent Grand Cayman in the Island Games in Gotland, Sweden from June 24 – 30.

Sol has played an influential role within the Sol Blazers for approximately 19 years, formerly sponsored by Esso, since CIC the team was renamed the Sol Blazers. “Sol is very pleased to play a pivotal role in the development of the Sol Blazers Organisation – we are very proud of their achievements!” says Alan Neesome, General Manager, Sol Cayman Islands. Shawn Pitterson, team Founder and Coach, commented –“I am very proud of what the team has accomplish over the past 6 seasons, with 5 wins. This season we were forced to use new players and they stepped up to their roles. The team worked hard and sacrificed and it has paid off!”
