Loadmasters play a special role in the movement of energy products, for example, between tanker ships, barges, and terminals. In line with Sol’s commitment to enhancing health & safety standards within the industry, Sol IHO’s team kicked off a special Loading Master Training round in October. The diverse group of trainees included regional team members from across 6 Caribbean territories (Guyana, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, Suriname, Antigua and Barbados).

Successful candidates were awarded with a Certificate of Competence recognized by the Energy Institute.

Energizing Communities

Energizing Communities. World Badminton Day celebration

During this year’s World Badminton Day celebrations,Sol Guyana welcomed the opportunity to team up with the Guyana Badminton Association. Sol Guyana sponsored the World Badminton Tournament with the provision of fuel voucher prizes for some of the tournament winners and we were happy to be “Energizing Communities” through such an uplifting, inclusive badminton event. 

Two of Sol Guyana’s staff members were also among the medalists; Ayanna Watson (Commercial Manager) and Anthony Stephen (Lubricants Technical Advisor) both placed 3rd in the Female Doubles and in the Mixed Doubles respectively. Congratulations again to Ayanna, Anthony and all winners!

Sol Cares- Grand mal graduates

All 18 recent graduates of the Grand Mal Pre-School gleefully accepted Sol-branded backpacks filled with stationery items that will aid them along their onward journey in education. The Sol team, teachers, past principal, parents and well-wishers were all present to cheer on the graduates who are soon to take on their primary-school journey with confidence.  Sol is firmly committed to Powering Journeys and Energizing Communities and is happy to continue to support the educational and recreational development of the young students of this Pre-School, as we have over the past years.

Sol is pleased to have joined with the Nursing Administration at the General Hospital to celebrate our local nurses on World Nurses Day 2022. Our team provided tokens of appreciation and refreshments for the recognition activity which, thanks to the remarkable coordination of Acting Director of Nursing, Nurse Anoris Martin-Charles, came off beautifully. Sol is committed to Energizing Communities and so we salute our nurses for their heroic efforts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and for continuing to take care of our Grenadian community.
